I had gone shopping earlier on the day I drew this, so I simply felt like drawing a girl in a fashiony pose... with polka dots. I think I really like the way the hair came out in this one. This is a step closer towards that bolder look I'm going for.
hmm..two things that instantly jump at me are the shoulder and the length of the arms..what really helps flush out such proportional mistakes is mirroring the image ever now and then. oh, one thing you REALLY gotta check out when you have the time, it BLEW MY MIND. [link] watch "anatomy of a sketch" - it made me giggle like a little girl to see a god among artists at work. He's definitely one of my absolute faves...I think of him as today's Mucha/Elvgren. amazing. greatly inspired me.
I reworked this image a lot trying to get that over the shoulder pose down. I always forget that I can just flip the page over, hold it up to the light, and peer through the page to get the mirror image. Although, now that I think about it, it'd be easier to have it side by side with the mirror image because then I can see both at once. Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks for the link of Adam Hughes' work. It is always very inspiring to watch other people draw. It's why I miss being around artists so much.
Agreed, LOVE the hair! Better contrast, better focal point... niiice... Yeah, like Neph said, the shoulder is distracting, tho, cuz it's *right* next to the focal point... D: But WHATEVZ, it's still supah sexah~ ;D
